Radiant, ethereal, celestial, in fantasy;

Yet, in reality elevating the human spirit.

Heralding Manhattan's glory,

Echoing the immortality of Broadway.

A nocturnal fairy land
described from Orange Mountains;

Reigning over culture, architecture and arts.

Enchanting, charming, beckoning, enticing;

Not to be dimmed until
threat of Nazi bombs.

Brown! Brown! Brownout!

Somber, depressing, reflective.

Air raid drills, douse those lights!

Grimly, the skyscraper castles,
haunt the heavens.

Yes, the lights returned,

Led by the New York Island

And over all of Planet Earth!
