From Half Penny Town

A poem telling us hurting children may only be
helped and healed by total family commitment

From Half Penny Town,
Home of the Marshmallow Hound;
Three homeless lads,
Minus their dads,
Came to Plum Tree Falls,
Home of the Blue Horse Stalls.
When asked their names,
They shouted Ouch! Olluch! Ouchwitts!

Why, cried the people?
Beneath the silver church steeple;
We did them no harm,
Didn't even touch an arm;
Yet, they cry Ouch! Olluch! Ouchmitts!
It's driving us out of our wits!

Cried the baker, cook and mailman,
You surely visited pain upon them;
This is why they shout Ouch! Olluch! Ouchmitts!
You will soon have them in fits!

The Mayor is coming this way;
Let him see this day,
If we have harmed these lads,
Here without their dads!

What are your names cried the Mayor?
This is the only way to be fair.
Ouch! Olluch! Ouchmitts! came the reply;
This the Mayor could not deny.

My home will be your home;
No longer need you roam.
But your names will no longer be Ouch! Olluch! Ouchmitts!
They are now changed to Couch! Pouch! Howlmitts!
