A poem of what certain music brings to John's mind
By Father John R. Green
Shown with his blessing
While hearing the rapturous melody
of the Overture 1812
My spirit hovers, soars over victory
vanquishing tyranny in lands free.
And hails the conquests over disease,
poverty and crime,
As grand and great as any military feat!
And as I thrill to the triumphant
rendition of Handle's Hallelujah
Signifying the assurance that with God is
the destiny of the world and mine.
Of Tchaikovsky tribute to Czar's
thwarting Napoleon's gain
I sigh with irony over a devestated city
and scorched lands,
Flowing from a retreat of logic in
the great military genius mind.
