Some may wonder
with imaginations aglow
Of the tales told
long, long ago,
By distant travelers
in Bethlehem Inn.
Until flickering fires
and lamps grew dim.
-
Of palace intrigue
and royal romance
And Sorcer's feats
and Arabian dance,
Of sailors sighting gold
in mysterious lands
And gardens
springing mystically
from desert sands.
-
While missed they the story
in the manger nearby,
Of angelic chorus and
a star in the sky,
And Shepherd's rapture
on God's Incarnation,
Of magi kneeling humbly
in adoration.
-
May we in merriment
and festivity with kin,
In human touch
and market place din,
In scurry and pause
and singing uplift,
Be not oblivious
to God's greatest gift.
