Some may wonder with imaginations aglow
Of the tales told long, long ago,
By distant travelers in Bethlehem Inn.
Until flickering fires and lamps grew dim.
Of palace intrigue and royal romance
And Sorcer's feats and Arabian dance,
Of sailors sighting gold in mysterious lands
And gardens springing mystically from desert sands.
While missed they the story in the manger nearby,
Of angelic chorus and a star in the sky,
And Shepherd's rapture on God's Incarnation,
Of magi kneeling humbly in adoration.
May we in merriment and festivity with kin,
In human touch and market place din,
In scurry and pause and singing uplift,
Be not oblivious to God's greatest gift.
