George S. Burnett was born on December 30, 1915 in Greenville, Ohio to Grace Delight and Walter S. Burnett.

George married Virginia Willowdean Odneal (Garden Wall Niche 1C) on April 26, 1944 in Maumee, Ohio. Their children are G. Norman Burnett and Lynn Hanna Stoycheff.

For over 25 years, George owned and operated the Cottage Inn Restaurant located on the east side of Conant St. just north of Dudley St. where the Maumee Municipal Building now stands. The Cottage Inn Restaurant featured home cooked food and a cozy atmosphere in downtown Maumee, Ohio.

He was a Maumee City Councilman.

George was a charter member of the Maumee Rotary Club. He was a founder of Indian Hills Boat Club.

He retired, living in Ormond Beach and Port Orange, Florida.

George died at Memorial Hospital on May 16, 2000 in Ormond Beach, Florida.

"Yes we ate there (Cottage Inn Restaurant). Great memories of the people who took me there especially my Uncle Nick after the parades. A neighbor and former parishioner Sue Ziems. Great home cooked food! Cozy atmosphere! Don’t know owners. It was located where the city building is now. Facing Conant maybe would have been two buildings in from Dudley towards Alley."

"My parents owned the restaurant (Cottage Inn Restaurant) for a long time. I loved going there and when my father couldn't get home for dinner we often went up to have dinner with him. He died about 20 years ago and my Mom about 5. They lived in Florida for most of their retirement years. Thanks for asking! Miss them both."
