James [Jim] G. Francis was born on March 15, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Josephine Ida and Harry R. Francis.

Jim graduated from Cincinnati College of Music. He graduated from Union Seminary in New York receiving a Master's Degree in Theological Music in 1955.

He first married Kathryn R. Francis. His children are Tara L. Raye, Heather A. Fink, Robert G. Francis, and Erin L. Hayward.

Jim later married Janet L. Francis. His step children are Frederick L. Bloedow, Patrick O'Bryan, Charles Larkins, James Larkins, David Larkins, Susan Larkins, and Richard Larkins.

Jim was a church organist and choirmaster in the Dayton, Ohio area. He became the Admissions Director at Cincinnati College of Music.

In 1963 he moved to be a church organist and choirmaster in the Toledo, Ohio vicinity. He worked for Collingwood Presbyterian Church for seven years.

Jim was the Vice President of the Baldwin Organ Division of the Great Lakes Piano and Organ Company for over twenty years. He was a Realtor for twelve years.

Jim was a member of the Zenobia Shrine Highlanders for twenty seven years serving as Pipe Seargeant, Director, and President. He was also a member of the Lucas County Sheriff's Pipes and Drums.

He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Maumee, Ohio where his beloved bagpipes were also heard and enjoyed.

Jim died at the Medical College of Ohio on February 2, 2005 in Toledo, Ohio.
