Robert Alan Bowen, Sr. was born on February 10, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio to Nettie Schneider and Lawrence C. Bowen. His younger siblings are Roland Lewis Bowen, Hazel Clare Bowen, Helen Dilwoth, Jeanette E Bowen, and infant Bowen.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Hollister Robert married Olive Geraldine 'Jerry' (Hollister) Bowen (Garden Wall Niche 16B). Their children are Robert Alan Bowen, Jr. (East Garden Plaque Plate 06-01) and Barbara Stockard.
He owned the Bowen Parking Service since 1947, operating several downtown Toledo, Ohio Parking Lots.
Robert was past president of Toledo and Ohio parking associations. He was on the board of the National Parking Association.
He was a member of Barton Smith Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Right of the Valley of Toledo, and was a Zenobia Shriner.
Robert died at home on February 2, 1988 in Maumee, Ohio.
