Donald F. "Don or Bummy" Baumgartner was born on April 15, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to Olga G. (Emke) and Frank X. Baumgartner. His older brother is Robert Baumgartner.
Don's father, Frank Baumgartner, was born in Germany around 1908. He probably arrived in the United States of America on the ship Columbus in 1928. His mother, Olga Baumgartner, was born in Germany around 1907. She probably arrived in the United States of America on the ship George Washington in 1929.
Don grew up in South Toledo. He went to Walbridge Grade School. He graduated from Libbey High School in 1960. He attended the University of Toledo.
Donald married Linda P. Reuter (Garden Wall Niche 20B) on April 20, 1963 in Lucas County, Ohio. Their sons are Brian Baumgartner and Brent Baumgartner.
Don breifly worked at DeVilbiss Company operating computerized screw machines. He became an Iron Worker, joining Iron Workers Union Local 55 of Toledo in 1968 and retiring in 1999.
Don was a long standing member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Maumee, Ohio, attending the Sunday 8 AM worship service and working at the church's rummage sales.
He was a great 'kidder' and loved camping.
On the first Wednesday of the month, Don; his wife Linda; his friend since childhood, Ernie Frye; fellow retired iron worker, David Motsinger; friends Ron Morawski and his wife, Judy would gather together for breakfast at McDonalds. Don will be missed.
Donald died on May 22, 2025 in Toledo, Ohio.
