In the morning of August 1, 1854, the past rector of our parish, Reverend Mark Richard Jukes, died of cholera while serving our parish and community. Two days later, his wife, Harriet Maria Jukes, died of cholera. Their youngest child, Arthur, had died in infancy five months before the cholera came. Mark and Harriet's other children, Georgina, Lucy, Worthington, Andrew, Marianne, Henry, and Mark, escaped the cholera, initially moving to Canada to live with their paternal grandmother after their parents died. Select the picture below to view Letters of Harriet Jukes with a chronological Topic Index of Letters added after the parish's introductory letter. For the memoir, letters, and journals of Harriet Maria Jukes, select The Earnest Christian at the top of the index.
