Allen Roger Lewis was born on July 6, 1924 in Deshler, Ohio to Mildred and Paul Lewis. His brother is Earl Lewis.
Allen graduated from Deshler High School.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1945. He was a Radio Repairman in the 516th Signal Service Unit on Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1952.
Allen received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University of Ohio in 1953. He received a Master of Arts Degree from Western Michigan University in 1963.
He married Janet Elaine Gilmore. Their children are Raymond P. Lewis, Kathleen L. Thacker, Eric S. Lewis, Brian Lewis, Neal Lewis, and Greta L. Mitchell. The marriage was dissolved.
Allen started teaching in Walled Lake, Michigan. He was a Science Teacher at Maumee High School in Ohio from 1956 until 1979.
He married Nancy Cubbedge (Garden Wall Niche 13A). in 1982. His stepchildren are Clarence H. Cubbedge IV, David R. Cubbedge, and Ann F. Cubbedge.
Allen was a long standing member of the Maumee United Methodist Church. He volunteered at its church ministries including its Library, the PALS group, and a church sponsorship of immigrants from Laos.
He was a key and long standing volunteer at Paul's Peers Respite Care operating at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Maumee, Ohio. He read and commented on the daily news to its elderly clients, some suffering from dementia.
He was interested in auto restoration, carpentry, photography, camping, sailing, and travel. He visited Africa, Australia, the Middle East, and Norway.
Allen died at home on June 6, 2011 in Maumee, Ohio.
