Raymond 'Ray' Gallo, Jr. was born in on March 23, 1929. His father, Raymond Gallo, Sr., lived in Aberdeen, Washington.

Ray married Phyllis C. Gallo on October 18, 1959. Their children are Nancy and Donald. Teresa is his step daughter. His mother-in-law, Lennie Alice Carmean , loved him as a son.

He retired from the Toledo Lucas County Library in 1991.

Ray was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Maumee, Ohio. He and his wife Phyllis, both professional librarians, volunteered countless hours to St. Paul's Reverend Malcom Ward Church Library. ₁
