Gerald 'Gerry' R. Womack was born on August 7, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio to Helen Juanita and John David Womack (1929-2007). His brothers are William R. Womack; John David Womack, Jr.; and Timothy C. Womack. His sisters are Peggy Buckland and Robin Griffin.

He graduated from Maumee High School in Ohio in 1972. He participated in high school wrestling and football. He went to Toledo University where he contined to play football.

Gerry married Janet Spielman on July 26, 1980. His daughters are Kyle E. and Katherine M. His son is Lucas B. Womack.

He worked as a plumber for Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He resided in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Gerry coached for the Bowling Green Little League Association. He was a board member of the Bowling Green Swim Club.

He was the Den Leader of the WEBELOS Pack 358 Den 2. WEBELOS stands for "WE'll BE LOyal Scouts" and is a Cub Scout program for Scouts to transition from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts.

He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Maumee, Ohio.

Gerry died at St. Vincent's Medical Center on February 12, 1991 in Toledo, Ohio.
