Marilyn Lucille 'Mary Lou' Huffman was born on February 7, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Dorothy and Donald Woods, Sr. Her siblings are JoAnne Radcliffe and Donald Woods.

She attended the University of Toledo for two years.

Mary Lou married Richard Weir 'Dick' Huffman on September 2, 1950. Their children are Terri Nau, Kim Biddle, Beth Finical, Scott Huffman, Thomas Huffman, and Joseph Thorpe.

She was a teller at the Maumee Home Federal Bank in 1965. She became manager of the later opened Perrysburg branch of the bank.

Mary Lou did social work for the Lucas County Childrens Services at the Miami Children's Center in Maumee inspecting and evaluating homes for disabled children.

She and her husband Dick owned and operated the 'Wood 'n Stuff' antique store on River Road in Maumee in the late 1970's. She restored old furniture and antiques.

Mary Lou, trained in art when young, also had a business painting pet portraits in the late 1970's.

After closing their 'Wood 'n Stuff' store in the early 1980's, Mary Lou became an Educational Assessment Aide at the Lucas County Board of Education's Alternate Learning Center in West Toledo.

Mary Lou and her husband Dick retired in 1987. They both acted in productions of the Maumee Civic Theater and the Waterville Playshop.

She was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital for 13 years. She also volunteered with the American Cancer Society's 'Reach for Recovery' program for breast cancer survivors.

Mary Lou and her husband Dick became locally known as 'Mom and Dad Huffman' by opening their home to teens for popcorn and hot chocolate after football games from 1970 to 1980.

She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Maumee. Ohio. She was a church schoolteacher and acolyte. She served on the vestry, altar guild, and during church rummage sales.

Mary Lou died at St. Luke's Hospital on January 30, 2003 in Maumee, Ohio.

Richard Weir 'Dick' Huffman was born on February 28, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio to Hazel E. and Weir C. Huffman. His brother is Dean Huffman.

Dick graduated from Libbey High School in Toledo, Ohio and the University of Toledo.

Dick married Marilyn Lucille 'Mary Lou' Woods on September 2, 1950. Their children are Terri Nau, Kim Biddle, Beth Finical, Scott Huffman, Thomas Huffman, and Joseph Thorpe.

He first taught at Glendale Elementary School in Toledo, Ohio and Fort Miami Elementary School in Maumee, Ohio. Then he was Principal of Wayne Trail Elementary School and Director of Special Education in Maumee, Ohio for 29 years.

After retiring from his career in education, Dick was an Office Manager at Funk-Luedke and a job coach at Zepf Center.

He was a Republican Councilman in Maumee, Ohio for 12 years.

Dick was President of the Ohio District Elementary Principals Association and Director of YMCA Club Adventure Day Camp. He was a member of the Elks of Maumee, Ohio and the Miata Club of Mazda Miata car owners.

He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Maumee, Ohio for 60 years. He served as Trustee, Vestryman, and during church rummage sales. In 1995, he was a member of the Chancel Players of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. They presented The Easter of Claudia play to the congregation on Palm Sunday. Dick played the part of the High Priest Caiaphas.

Dick died at St. Luke's Hospital on May 20, 2010 in Maumee, Ohio.
