Robert Thomas Guyton was born on May 21, 1938 in Muskegon, Michigan to Margaret Guyton. His siblings are Carol Goodell and Richard Guyton.

He went to Yale University graduating with an Engineering Degree in 1960. He received a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1966.

Robert served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant, Junior Grade.

Robert married Priscilla L. Lamb on June 21, 1963 in Lucas County, Ohio. Priscilla was born on May 8, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio to Prudence and Edward Lamb (North Garden Plaque Plate 01-04). Priscilla became an American television broadcasting company executive. Priscilla and Robert's children are Melissa 'Lissa' Guyton, Margaret 'Lambie' Stout (1969-2011), and Robert 'Chip' Guyton.

He was Senior Vice President of Nevada National Bank in Reno, Nevada. He was Executive Vice President of Lamb Enterprises in Toledo, Ohio. He was Executive Vice President of Lamb Communications in Toledo, Ohio. He was a Director of Seilon, Incorporated in Toledo, Ohio. He was a Director of Netter International Limited and Argent Investors Corporation, both in New York, New York.

Robert lived in Bedford Village, New York and then Perrysburg, Ohio.

He was a member of the Yale Club of New York City. He was a member of the Toledo Club, the Belmont Country Club and Carranor Hunt and Polo Club, both in Perrysburg, Ohio.

He was President of the Yale Sailing Club. He was Director of the Planned Parenthood League of Toledo and the Big Brothers of Northwest Ohio.

Robert died at Medical College Hospital on September 25, 1976 in Toledo, Ohio.
