George Donald Doresco was born on June 14, 1926 in Canada. He grew up in Merritton, Saint Catherines, Ontario. His brother is Nicholas Doresco. He had two other brothers and two sisters.

He graduated from the University of Western Ontario Executive Program and the Harvard University Management Program.

George served in the Royal Canadian Artillery during World War II.

George married Margaret Doresco on April 1, 1950. Their children are Paul Doresco, Kathryn Tessier, and Marcia Bauer (North Garden Plaque Plate 04-04).

He started his career with the Dana Corporation in 1947 at its Canadian affiliate, Hayes-Dana, in St. Catherines, Ontario. He was an Accountant, then Plant Accountant, Marketing Manager, Plant Manager, and became Vice President-Treasurer of Hayes-Dana in 1969.

George became the Dana Corporation Controller at Toledo, Ohio in 1970.

He returned to Canada to become Hayes-Dana's Executive Vice President and General Manager in 1973. He was President from 1974 to 1978.

George served on Hayes-Dana's Board of Directors from 1973 to 1990 at times as Vice Chairman and Chairman.

He became Dana's Light-Truck Group Vice President at Toledo, Ohio in 1977. He was Light-Truck Group President in 1978.

George retired from Dana in 1985 but continued to serve on Hayes-Dana's Board of Directors until 1990.

He was a member and chairman of the Advisory Board of Hotel-Dieu Grace Health Care in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. (Hotel-Dieu in French means Hostel of God hence Hospital).

He was a member of the Rotary clubs in Saint Catherines, Ontario and Toledo, Ohio.

George was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Maumee, Ohio, serving as Chalice Bearer and on the Vestry.

He was a Triple A Baseball Catcher in St. Catherines, Ontario in the late 1940's. He enjoyed golfing and curling.

George died at home on April 28, 2005 in Springfield Township, Ohio.
