Kneelers
In 1960, the Women of St. Paul's Episcopal Church found a way to show their mutual affection for the whole parish. Something to please the eye and repeatedly touch parishioners with affection for years to come. They began an over three year project to replace most plain red satin kneelers with over two hundred more substantial and beautiful needlepoint kneelers.
Select below underlined name for memorial Lydia Cary (Spitzer) Rheinfrank was co-chairwoman of the project and kneeler designer. Fern B. Williams was the other co-chairwoman and master stitcher. Pauline Phelps Secor completed the first two new kneelers. 1 Barbara Coon participated in the stitching. 2 Roberta French sewed some of the cross-stitched kneeling cushions. On February 8, 2021, Anne Galindo shared, "I remember my mom (Ruth Cook Child LaFrance) sewing at least one (kneeler)". Later Ruth and her family transferred from St. Paul's Episcopal parish in Maumee to St. Timothy's Episcopal parish in Perrysburg.
